Healthy Halloween Treats
I have three fun, simple and healthy Halloween treats for ya’ll today. All of these are pretty self explanatory but I’ll go ahead and throw in some details anyways. And for your reading pleasure I have also included some of my crafty snack fails. Disclaimer…I’m not the best “picture-taker” in the blogging world, so bare with me as you see my attempts of being fancy!
Fruit Pouch Mummies
These are great healthy and quick Halloween snacks…and quick is so key sometimes for us mommies.
Materials:
- Fruit Pouches
- White Streamers (I got mine from the $1 store)
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
- Google Eyes (Again from the $1 store)
- Tape
Instructions:
- Cut a piece of crepe streamer about 4-5 feet long. Then cut the piece of crepe streamer down the center so that you have two pieces.
- Tape or hot glue one end of the strip to the pouch and start wrapping and then tape/hot glue the end of the strip to the pouch.
- Hot glue two google eyes to the front.
Ghost Bananas
Can you really get any more simple than this? My toddler loves these! It made eating his banana that much more exciting. And what a fun surprise for your kids lunch box!
Just punch a hole in the middle of a paper towel, make a cute ghost face and slide that bad boy on the banana. Boom! Super awesome snack and super happy toddler!
Grapey Worms
Grapey worms named by my little side kick. Literally just shish kabob a whole lot of grapes. We used Cotton Candy Grapes which are a household favorite. Side note…these grapes (that are very seasonal) trip me out everytime I eat them because they legit taste like cotton candy. Moving on…to be honest I had a little hard time with the eyes. You just need to dab a little frosting and place mini chocolate chips for the eyes. However, make sure and dry off the grapes completely, which I failed to do, because then the frosting and eyes will begin to droop before they can dry. My husband took one look at them and said “what are those supposed to be?!” However, and a BIG however, my toddler took one look and said “WORMY GRAPES!” Success! Lol.
I had to share my favorite wormy grape (which is the middle one) because it looks like a deflated mommy boob after you are no longer breastfeeding! I’m laughing and crying at the same time.
Healthy Snack Fails
Carrot Pumpkins…here is what it was supposed to look like:
Here is what mine looked like:
The first one is just all wrong. And then I tried “fixing” it and it ended up looking like a sail boat instead!
But just look at how cute my little helper was “peeling” some carrots with me.
Babybel Cheese Eyeballs…here is what it was supposed to look like:
Here is what mine looked like:
I used three different types of frosting for the veins and even tried ketchup. But I could not get those veins to look good for the life of me.
Now it’s not to say that I won’t attempt yet again to make these little bad boys because they are very cute. I just might need to enlist the aid of my hubby who is all kinds of crafty.
Until next time…
Huggles & A Trio of Kisses,
