Halloween Hot Dog Treats
Hot Dog Mummies
Ingredients:
- 8 Hot Dogs
- I Can Crescent Roll Dough
- 16 Candy Eyes
- Cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375
- Unroll dough and separate into 4 rectangles & crimp diagonal cuts together
- Cut each rectangle lengthwise about 1/4″-1/2″
- Wrap dough around each hot dog (leave room for the mummy’s face)
- Place wrapped hot dog on a non-stick baking sheet & lightly spray with olive oil
- Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown
- Place a small piece of cheese where the eyes go and place briefly in oven to melt
- Place eyes on cheese
These were so fun to make because the whole family joined in. I use Annie’s Organic Crescent Rolls. A little tip…It’s better to cut the dough thinner instead of wider, that way they look more like mummies. If you don’t want to use the candies as eyes you can use ketchup and mustard to make little eyes. I personally use the eyes because they are so cute but we don’t eat the candy. The kids loved these and even ate the mummy leftovers cold the next day as a snack.
Bloody Hot Dog Fingers
Ingredients:
- Pack of hot dogs
- Pack of hot dog buns
- Ketchup
Instructions:
- To make the fingernails, slice the sides of the fingernail and then slice straight across the top and a curved slice along the bottom of the nail bed. Take your knife and carefully slice the tiny fingernail off.
- To make the knuckles simply cut three small slices along the middle of the hot dog. Then halfway between the knuckles and the fingernail make two more slices. (Don’t worry if you can’t really see the slits because they will open up during the boiling process.)
- Boil the hot dogs for 4-5 minutes
- Pace each finger into a hot dog bun and drench in blood (ketchup). Make sure and add more ketchup at the bottom of the “severed finger”.
Voila! You have bloody Halloween hot dogs! So easy to make for a Halloween party or for and quick, easy and fun meal for the family.
Until next time…
Huggles & A Trio of Kisses,
Jaime
